State is an active participant in the EPA's Design for the Environment (DfE) program. DfE is a voluntary partnership program that works directly with industries to incorporate health and environmental considerations into the design and redesign of products and processes.

Two State Chemical products have achieved DfE recognition. Gator™ was DfE certified in December, 2002 as the first approved product in the bio-based drain and grease trap maintenance sector. New Era™ joined Gator's status when it was recognized in January, 2003 as among the first bio-based industrial cleaning/solvent formulations for parts washing reviewed and recognized by DfE.
