Grease Keeps Mowers Running Smoothly |
| |
| Set
on 400 acres of well-manicured campus, Georgia Southern University is home
to approximately 14,000 students each year. The GSU grounds crew keeps the
campus in top form with over 200 pieces of grounds equipment—from mowers
to tractor mowers—that are in operation seven hours a day, five days a
week. They rely on State AP Grease to keep equipment running smoothly. |
| |
| The
Problem |
| The
grounds crew operates seven front deck mowers and two rear deck mowers
with a combined total of 27 spindles, which need to be rebuilt at least
twice a year. The wear and tear on their equipment was affecting their
ability to perform their jobs at full efficiency. |

Solution |
| AP
Grease is an all-purpose, heat resistant lubricant that will not liquefy,
pound out, or break down under extreme temperatures. It lessens the wear
and tear on all equipment. |
| |
| State’s
AP Grease was chosen for: |
- Versatile,
high-temperature, high-impact resistant grease
- All-climate
grease maintains peak efficiency from 25°F to 450°F, intermittently
up to 500°F
- Resists
contamination from acids, water, salt spray, weather, dirt, dust,
steam, oxidation
- Timken
Rating: 65; NLGI Grade: 2 to 2.5; RPM: up to 2,500

| The
Results |
| “We’ve
been using AP Grease for about four years now, and we don’t have
to rebuild spindles nearly as much as we used to. Now we average
rebuilding one spindle a year. AP Grease has really lessened the
wear and tear on all of our equipment.
In fact, AP Grease is the only type of grease we use in
this shop.” |

| “We’ve
estimated that the total time spent rebuilding spindles has
decreased by 85%.
Now we spend 18% of our time rebuilding spindles, which is a
significant time and cost savings to us.” |
